Independence services when and where you need them

If you or your loved one is starting to lose the skills you need to live independently, our Independence services can help.

We offer a range of supports designed to make life easier for you, and we work closely with you, your family members and your medical team to deliver the right care at the right time.

As well as providing practical assistance when and where you need it, our Independence services leave you feeling confident that you can keep living at home for as long as possible.

What services do you need?

Vitalis Aged Care at Home’s Independence services include:

Personal care (includes bathing/ showering, toileting and dressing)

Medication assistance (includes collecting prescriptions and helping you take meds)

Non-clinical continence management

Driving you to appointments or on outings.

Individual and group social support and companionship

Personal assistance (includes organising things at home)

Respite Care to give family members/carers essential time to recharge batteries

Remedial massage

Home modifications

What are Independence services?

Independence services provide the support you need to keep living confidently and independently at home. Most Vitalis Aged Care at Home Independence services are delivered directly by highly trained Vitalis carers. We match you with the right carer for your needs and situation.

Your Vitalis Carer can help you with:

  • Personal care – includes showering/bathing, toileting and dressing
  • Medication assistance – includes collecting prescriptions and helping you take meds
  • Non-clinical continence management
  • Driving to appointments or on outings
  • Personal assistance – includes organising things at home
  • Individual and group social support and companionship
  • Respite care.

In some instances, Vitalis will call on carefully chosen and approved third-party providers to deliver certain Independence services. These services are still managed by Vitalis Aged Care at Home to ensure timeliness and quality. These services can include:

  • Remedial massage
  • Home modifications
  • Assistive technology.

Vitalis Aged Care at Home provides Independence services across the Greater Sydney region. If you live outside that area and need support, please contact us to see how we can help you.

No, there is no waiting list for Vitalis Aged Care at Home’s Independence services. Depending on the availability of your funding (for example, whether or not you are waiting for a Support at Home funding from the government or if you are funding your care privately), Vitalis can start to provide services within days.

Vitalis Aged Care at Home’s Independence services are available across Greater Sydney to clients whose care is being fully or partly funded through the government’s Support at Home program.

If you already have Support at Home funding, please contact us and we can design a service offering specially designed to meet your needs.

If you are unsure whether or not you qualify for funding, you can check your eligibility here.

Please note that under the Support at Home program, you may be required to make a contribution to the cost of your care by paying an Australian Government income-tested fee. Further information about contributions is available on the My Aged Care website.
